Zainab Nathani, a sophomore at East Meadow High School, has been selected as a Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership ambassador. She will participate with other teenagers at the HOBY Leadership Conference this spring. This conference brings tomorrow’s leaders together with today’s recognized leaders in business, government, education and other professions to discuss present and future issues.
Zainab was selected through a rigorous interview process which included an evaluation by faculty, students and administrators. She unanimously impressed the panel with her poise, confidence and genuine concern for others.
Zainab is a very conscientious student who is involved in various extracurricular activities which she enjoys and values. She is the editorials editor for the school newspaper, the Jet Gazette, and secretary of both the Pre-Med Club and Key Club. Having been involved in Kiwanis since the fourth grade, she currently has her eye on the lieutenant governor position.
She also finds time to actively participate in other clubs, including the Environmental, Horticulture, Future Business Leaders of America and World Hunger Action clubs. She competes on the math and badminton teams, and her leadership skills and interest in her community, both locally and globally, are apparent. With an affinity for science and the desire to help others, she plans on pursuing a career in the medical field.
