W.T. Clarke High School senior Daniel Wang has been selected as one of 250 finalists in the 2012-2013 Coca-Cola Scholars Program, which acknowledges his outstanding achievements as a leader in his school and community. Daniel was chosen from a group of more than 100,000 applicants and 2,200 semifinalists.
As a finalist, Daniel will attend “Scholars Weekend” in Atlanta this April, where he will compete to become one of 50 National Scholars, each of whom is awarded a $20,000 scholarship. The remaining 200 finalists will be named Regional Scholars and granted a scholarship worth $10,000.
In addition to scheduled interviews, Daniel will join the other finalists who are being honored for their achievements, by attending the Coca-Cola Scholars Banquet, which will take place at the Georgia World Congress Center. Award-winning journalist Tom Brokaw will serve as the keynote speaker. The weekend will be filled with seminars, tours of local landmarks, social gatherings and the opportunity to participate in a community service project sponsored by Coca-Cola.
The district would like to congratulate Daniel on this accomplishment and wish him the best of luck in the next level of competition.
