The East Meadow High School Theatre Guild presented three mesmerizing performances of its fall production, “Ten Little Chipmunks,” a comedy by Craig Sodaro, on Dec. 12, 13 and 14.
In “Ten Little Chipmunks,” a play filled with laughs, fights and frights, billionaire Thaddeus Thornbury (played by Henry Zaradich) realizes the end of his life is near and decides to invite all potential heirs to his secluded mansion on Chipmunk Island. This includes his sisters, Isabelle Blunt (Katie Bent-Koerick) and Rita Rancidde (Emily Shallbetter), along with Rita’s two children; his shifty lawyer, Noah Nagle (Jimmy Gratta); his secretary, Holly Berry (Casey Armata); his grumpy cook and her cookie-loving daughter, Coco Chips (Robyn Murray); and two long-lost country cousins.
When all arrive, Thornbury reads his will, which explains that the last surviving member of the weekend party will inherit the entire Thornbury empire. Two strangers conveniently shipwrecked on the island appear just in time to notarize the will and join the festivities. But after a toast, Thaddeus suddenly dies from rat poisoning. One by one, potential heirs begin to die, making for a thrilling, rapid-fire mystery.
Performances were well-attended and drew rave reviews from members of the community and school district. Full of twists and surprises, “Ten Little Chipmunks” will be remembered for years to come.
