Nassau BOCES Model Schools professional developer Paula Goldstein instructed the teachers at Meadowbrook Elementary School on the newest features of Microsoft Word 2010. They learned about the various templates for newsletters, page layout, print layout, numbered and bulleted lists, how to save projects, and more.
The Meadowbrook students use Microsoft Office to create stories, poems, research papers, and newsletters, among other projects. With its editing and drawing tools, this multi-media authoring program is essential for teachers and students to understand. It is a strong tool for supporting the new Common Core State Standards in English Language Arts.
“When you have what you want, always ‘save.’ Don’t be afraid to try something – hit a button. That’s what kids do. Adults are often afraid of consequences,” said Ms. Goldstein.
