Bowling Green, McVey and Parkway elementary schools hosted events during March as part of their Parents as Reading Partners programs. The events were sponsored by the schools’ respective PTAs.
Bowling Green hosted Guest Reader Day, during which local politicians, parents and school officials, including Superintendent of Schools Louis R. DeAngelo, visited classrooms and read stories to students.
McVey and Parkway each hosted literacy nights at the Barnes & Noble store on Old Country Road in Carle Place. At both events, the schools’ administrators and faculty held story time gatherings with students, and student-musicians performed musical pieces for fellow students, faculty and parents in attendance.
Not only did the students enjoy these events, they also made a commitment to read as often as possible to develop their vocabulary, explore different genres of books, and become well-rounded and better educated.
