East Meadow High School is pleased to announce that senior track athlete Nicolas Torres was awarded the Peter N. Aquilone Leaders of Tomorrow award at the Hispanic Games on January 8. Sponsored by the United States Navy, Nick was recognized for his outstanding community service, academics, and athletic achievement. He was nominated for this honor by coaches Michael Ringhauser and James McGlynn. Congratulations, Nick!
In addition, East Meadow High School’s 4 X 55M shuttle hurdle team of Tom Milian, Tom Ford, Chris Garzia, and Kyle Bettex took second place at the New Balance High School Championships, held on March 5 at the Armory in Manhattan. Although runners up in this race, the team still holds the fastest time in the nation this year as well as the New York State record in the event. Great job!
