Mrs. Bertolini and Mrs. Miller worked collaboratively with their second grade students to write personal narratives. The children learned how to write a creative story about a personal experience. They brainstormed a list of ideas based on their lives and chose one that they thought a reader would find interesting. Rough drafts were created; students reread their drafts and conferenced with other children or an adult. During the revision stage, they learned to expand their ideas, include descriptive details, incorporate their feelings, and add personal thoughts to their stories. After working for several sessions, a final draft was completed. The children enjoyed celebrating their “published” stories by sharing their work at an Authors’ Tea. Ms. Ciarametaro and Mr. Lukasik were our special guests. The children were very proud of their work and excited to read their personal narratives aloud. Great job boys and girls!
