First-graders in
Ms. Waters’ class at Barnum Woods Elementary School recently participated in a workshop about tropical rainforests hosted by the Long Island Center for Arts and Sciences.
The workshop, led by instructor Christina Godfrey, included a slideshow presentation, which focused on different animals and plants in rainforests. Students also viewed the locations of various rainforests around the globe, and learned about the importance of preserving forests, a source of oxygen, around the world.
As a fun activity after the presentation, students created paper rainforest butterflies. Students also promised to continue reading and learning about rainforests.
