Kindergarten students in Pam Tobin’s class at Parkway Elementary School celebrated Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday by reading books about his life and studying his message about treating others with kindness.
After the students discussed the idea that he was a “bucket filler,” they took an oath to be peacemakers like Dr. King and to be accepting of others. Using construction paper, the kindergartners cut out two hands holding up a heart to reaffirm Dr. King’s message.“The design reinforces the message that the students will accept others, no matter what their differences may be,” Ms. Tobin stated.
